When our sons were younger, my husband used to take them fishing a lot. We have scores of pictures of each with their first fish, and for one we have something more.
I am willing to try new things ... to look like a fool ... a bigtime fool for thinking I'm funny enough to get paid for it ... and it's a freedom like no other!
The Oscars! What a night! Is there any other business that routinely congratulates itself on being itself?
So I sit in a hotel in Seward Alaska minding my own business, when suddenly it dawns on me. … I am making a movie!
When I was young, the TV had rabbit ears, the cool video game was Pong, and we talked on rotary phones. So how's a mother to raise her kids in the Digital Age?

American Idol Top 4 Results - Allison Voted Off; Kris, Adam and Danny Go Home, Too

On Wednesday's results show, the only female left in the competition, Allison Iraheta, was voted off, leaving Danny Gokey, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert to vie for the title of American Idol.

Daughtry performed their new single live, and No Doubt performed "I'm Just A Girl." Even Paula Abdul got into the act, performing ... or lip synching ... her new single. I found out afterwards that both Paula's and No Doubt's performances were taped on Tuesday, with lots of takes and editing for airing on Wednesday. Yeeesh. I knew she wasn't going to actually perform live.

The three finalists head home today for hometown celebrations, Danny to Milwaukee; Adam to his hometown of San Diego (although he currently lives in L.A.) and Kris to Conway, Arkansas. (Here are their schedules.) You can be sure that there will be frenzied fans awaiting their arrival long before they're scheduled to show up.

A couple of weeks ago, I went out on limb and predicted Kris Allen might win the whole show. My hunch was based on the iTunes slip taht revealed that of the Top 10 Idol downloads, Adam had 6, Kris had 3, and Danny only had 1. My thinking is that if Danny is voted off, his fans will vote for Kris, not Adam. But if Kris is voted off, then Adam has the title sewed up; my readers who are supporting Kris are just as excited about Adam.

Next week, we'll whittle the competition down to the final two, as the contestants perform two songs each, one a judges' choice, and the other a song of their choice. With four judges and three contestants, it'll be interesting to see who doesn't get to pick a song. On Wednesday, Katy Perry and Jordin Sparks perform, and we'll find out which two contestants will go head to head in the season finale.
