American Idol Top 4 Perform Rock Songs

Can you believe that we're down to the final four on this season of American Idol? Seems like just yesterday we were in Hollywood for the first week of auditions.

Last night, Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta and Danny Gokey sang rocks songs ranging from classic rock to pop rock, proving that Adam and Allison had a leg up with the genre. The guest mentor, Slash from Guns N' Roses fame, offered up advice and some guitar back up while the contestants practiced on the stage at the Roxy club to give them the full rock experience.

During dress rehearsal, there was an accident on the set that sent a stage hand to the hospital after she fell 20 ft from one of the towers. Then a huge American Idol sign collapsed, sending glass and debris across the stage. The contestants didn't have a proper dress rehearsal and it was clear things were a little frazzled.

Adam kicked off the show singing Led Zepplin's "Whole Lotta Love." Clearly, he was in his element and he knocked that one out of the park.

Allison Iraheta was up next with Janis Joplin's "Cry Baby." The judges criticized her song choice, but I thought she did a great job. It's difficult to remember that she's just 17 years old, she's that good.

Kris Allen and Danny Gokey did a duet of Styx's "Renegade." Their harmonies were incredible, but individually they both fell short. Danny did a little better than Kris, but not much.

Kris was up next, and thankfully he sang something I enjoyed, The Beatle's "Come Together." The judges didn't like it at all, but I thought it was fantastic. Then again, I'm not a huge fan of classic rock so I was happy someone picked a song for me.

Danny performed Aerosmith's "Dream On." It was good, but not great. He didn't pull off the high scream at the end; that part was painful. Sounded like a cat getting skinned alive.

Adam and Allison closed out the show with a duet of Foghat's "Slow Ride," proving that while everyone was focused on Adam last night, Allison might just have bested him at his own game.

So who goes home tonight? Adam and Allison are safe, for sure. I think Kris did a better job than Danny so if I had to go with my gut, I think Danny might be in trouble. But we'll find out tonight, when we get the results. Chris Daughtery and No Doubt will also perform. And Paula will perform her new single, "I'm Just Here For The Music." Let's see if she actually performs, or if we get the video like last time.
